Founded in 2015 in the heart of St. Louis’ Central West End neighborhood, Kingside Diner has spent the past decade reimagining the neighborhood diner. Locally owned and operated by restaurateur Aaron Teitelbaum, Kingside Diner blends the warmth of a classic diner with elevated comfort food, creative cocktails, and a welcoming atmosphere for all.
Our name is inspired by the world of chess – specifically, the “kingside” of the board, where bold moves are made and games often come to life. This is more than a metaphor: Kingside Diner shares a proud affiliation with the internationally renowned Saint Louis Chess Club, located just steps away in the Central West End. In fact, our original CWE location at 4651 Maryland Avenue was directly adjacent to the Chess Club – on the kingside of the building. As a culinary counterpart to one of the city’s most intellectually vibrant institutions, Kingside Diner reflects the spirit of strategy and creativity that defines the game.
From business breakfasts and family brunches to post-work drinks and Sunday rituals, Kingside Diner has become a true neighborhood gathering place. In addition to its flagship Central West End location, Kingside has expanded with locations in Clayton and on the Delmar Loop, always with the same commitment to quality, hospitality, and community connection. Whether you’re visiting for a stack of pancakes, a signature Mimosa Flight, or a rotating seasonal special, you’ll find something satisfying and memorable.

Over the years, many memories have been made in Diners across the country. As time passed, the world changed, but our sacred Diners never did – always there when we needed them, early in the morning or late at night, for a quick meal, cup of coffee, or just a place to meet a friend.
And when things are good, it can be easy to accept them…
But sometimes, good things can be even better.
What are the ingredients of a GREAT Diner?
We start with chic, chess-themed interiors and alluring patios. Next, a beverage menu complete with freshly ground espresso and creative cocktail specials. Then, of course, the food! Known for our inventive brunch-fare, with popular dishes like build-your-own breakfast burritos, caprese grilled cheese, and griddle burgers, choosing may be difficult!
We are reimagining Diner traditions while preserving and nurturing what we believe is the most important ingredient – the community.
